Rule 261 : Understanding Speed Limit Compliance

MANDATORY LIMITS & SIGNAGE

The Red Circle Mandate: Drivers must never exceed a speed limit that is displayed within a red circle on a road sign ; these indicate legally binding maximum speeds .

Road and Vehicle Maximums

Beyond posted signs , drivers must stay within the maximum speed limit assigned to both the specific road type and their specific vehicle class .
