Rule 243 ↗
DO NOT stop or park:

near a school entrance
anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
at or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank
on the approach to a level crossing/tramway crossing
opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
opposite a traffic island or (if this would cause an obstruction) another parked vehicle
where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane
where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles
in front of an entrance to a property
on a bend
where you would obstruct cyclists’ use of cycle facilities
except when forced to do so by stationary traffic.

In Scotland you MUST NOT double park or park anywhere the kerb has been lowered to help pedestrians or cyclists. Exceptions are allowed in limited circumstances.

Where NEVER to Stop or Park

PROHIBITED ACCESS POINTS

PUBLIC TRANSPORT & INFRASTRUCTURE

School Entrances & Property Access Parking is strictly forbidden near school entrances and in front of any entrance to a property .

Emergency Services Priority

Do not stop anywhere that would prevent access for Emergency Services vehicies .

Transport Hubs & Crossings

Parking is banned at or near bus stops , tram stops , taxi ranks , and on the approach to level or tramway crossings .

Accessibility for Mobility Users Parking is prohibited where the kerb has been lowered specifically to assist wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles .

HAZARDOUS ROAD GEOMETRY

Protecting Cycle Facilities

Drivers must not stop where they would obstruct cyclists ' use of dedicated cycle facilities .

Tram Lane Clearance

Never park where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane to get around you .

REGIONAL LAW : SCOTLAND

The 10 - Metre Junction Rule

Do not park opposite or within 10 metres ( 32 feet ) of a junction unless in an authorized parking space .

Visibility at Bends and Hills Stopping is prohibited on a band , near the brow of a hill , or on a hump bridge where visibility is restricted .

Strict Ban on Double Parking

In Scotland , you MUST NOT double park , with exceptions allowed only in very limited circumstances .

Avoiding Obstructions

Do not park opposite a traffic island or another parked vehicle if it would cause an obstruction for others .

Pedestrian and Cyclist Crossings

Scottish law ( T ( Scot ) A part 6 ) mandates that you MUST NOT park where the kerb has been lowered for pedestrians or cyclists .
