You MUST NOT wait or park on yellow lines during the times of operation shown on nearby time plates (or zone entry signs if in a Controlled Parking Zone) – see ‘Traffic signs’ and ‘Road markings’. Double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time even if there are no upright signs. You MUST NOT wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers, on school entrance markings (see ‘Road markings’) when upright signs indicate a prohibition of stopping.

Rule 238 : Road Marking & Parking Restrictions

Double Yellow Lines : No Waiting at Any Time Double yellow lines indicate a total prohibition of waiting at all times , even if there are no upright signs present at the location .

Single Yellow Lines : Check Nearby Signs

You must not wait or park on single yellow lines during the specific times of operation displayed on nearby time plates or zone entry signs .

Total Stopping Prohibition

When upright signs indicate a prohibition , you are forbidden from waiting , parking , or stopping to set down and pick up passengers on school entrance markings .

Priority on Pedestrian Safety

These markings are specifically placed to keep school entrances clear of traffic for the safety of children and parents .
