Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

Navigating Mini - Roundabouts : Essential Rules & Safety
PHASE 1 : THE APPROACH
Treat as a Standard Roundabout
Drivers should approach mini - roundabouts using the same fundamental techniques and lane discipline as normal roundabouts .
PHASE 2 : NAVIGATING THE MARKINGS
Circular Path is Mandatory
According to RTA 1988 sect 36 , all vehicles MUST pass around the central markings rather than driving over them .
PHASE 3 : SPATIAL AWARENESS & TIMING
The Large Vehicle Exception
Only large vehicles that are physically incapable of navigating the tight circle are permitted to cross the central markings .
Reduced Maneuvering Space
Drivers must account for the significantly smaller area available for movement compared to standard junctions .
Faster Signaling Required
Because distances are shorter , there is less time to provide and process signals ; drivers must act and react more quickly .
PHASE 4 : HAZARD PREVENTION
Avoid U - Turns
Rule 188 advises against making U - turns at mini - round- abouts due to the high risk of collision in confined spaces .
Beware of Other Drivers
Stay alert for other motorists who may attempt illegal or dangerous U - turns despite the restricted space .
