Check Your Mirrors
Before initiating any movement , use your mirrors to assess the traffic situation behind and to the left of your vehicle .
Watch for Traffic on the Left
Always check for road users coming up on your left side before making the final turn .
Signal Well in Advance: Give a clear left - turn signal long before you begin the maneuver to alert other road users of your intentions .
Hidden Hazards
Cyclists and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable and may be completely hidden from your view during a turn .
Do Not Overtake: Avoid overtaking other vehicles immediately before you intend to turn left , as this creates unnecessary risk .
Large Vehicle Alert
Drivers of large vehicles must exercise extra caution , as their size increases the likellhood of smaller vehicles being obscured in blind spots .
