Dual carriageways. When crossing or turning right, first assess whether the central reservation is deep enough to protect the full length of your vehicle.
If it is, then you should treat each half of the carriageway as a separate road. Wait in the central reservation until there is a safe gap in the traffic on the second half of the road.
If the central reservation is too shallow for the length of your vehicle, wait until you can cross both carriageways in one go.

Measure the Central Reservation
Before moving , assess if the central reservation is deep enough to protect the full length of your vehicle .
Deep Reservation ( Fits Vehicle )
Treat as Two Separate Roads
If the reservation is deep enough to house your vehicle , you do not need to clear the entire dual carriageway at once .
Scenario B : Shallow Reservation ( Too Small )
The ' One Go ' Requirement
If the central reservation is too shallow for the length of your vehicle , the area is unsafe to stop in .
The Staggered Wait
Drive into the reservation and wait there until there is a safe gap in the traffic on the second half of the road .
Cross Both Carriageways at Once
You must wait for a gap in traffic on both sides of the road so that you can cross the entire dual carriageway in a single , continuous movement .
