Scan the Road Ahead
Ensure the road is sufficiently clear ahead of you to complete the entire maneuver without endangering oncoming traffic or yourself .
Check Your Surroundings
Verify that other road users behind you or in your blind spots are not already beginning to overtake your vehicle .
Identify Your Landing Gap
Confirm there is a suitable , safe gap in front of the road user you plan to overtake so you can return to the lane smoothly .
