Certain models of motorcycles, motor tricycles and quadricycles, also called quad bikes, are suitable only for off-road use and do not meet legal standards for use on roads. Vehicles that do not meet these standards MUST NOT be used on roads. They MUST NOT be used on pavements, footpaths, cycle paths or bridleways either. You MUST make sure that any motorcycle, motor tricycle, quadricycle or any other motor vehicle meets legal standards and is properly registered, taxed and insured before using it on the roads. Even when registered, taxed and insured for the road, vehicles MUST NOT be used on pavements.

VEHICLE SUITABILITY & STANDARDS

Off - Road vs. Road Legal

Designed exclusively for OFF - ROAD use . DO NOT meet legal standards for public roads .

THE " ROAD - LEGAL " STANDARD : Only vehicles meeting specific LEGAL SAFETY and MANUFACTURING STANDARDS are permitted for use on ANY public road .

Vehicles failing to meet road - legal standards MUST NOT be used on roads , pavements , footpaths , cycle paths , or bridleways .

PRE - ROAD CHECKLIST

PROPER REGISTRATION

Every vehicle must be officially registered with authorities before entering a public road .

TAX AND INSURANCE

You must ensure the vehicle is properly taxed and carries valid insurance coverage for road use .

COMPLIANCE IS MANDATORY

It is the OPERATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY to verify the motor vehicle meets ALL legal standards before use .

PROHIBITED AREAS ( THE " NO - GO " ZONES )

Pavements are Off - Limits: Even if a vehicle is fully registered , tased , and insured , it MUST NOT be used on pavements .

Protected Paths: Motor vehicles are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from using footpaths , cycle paths , and bridleways .

These rules are enforced under various laws , including RTA 1988 , HA 1835 , and VERA .
