The horn. Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn

while stationary on the road
when driving in a built-up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am
except when another road user poses a danger.

CORRECT USAGE

Warn Others of Your Presence

Use the horn only while your vehicle is moving and it is necessary to alert other road users that you are there .

Avoid Aggressive Honking

The horn should never be used as a means of showing aggression toward other drivers or pedestrians .

PROHIBITED SITUATIONS

Stationary Ban

You must not sound your horn while your vehicle is stationary on the road .

Nighttime Restraint ( 11:30 PM 7:00 AM )

In built - up areas , it is illegal to use your horn during these late - night and early - morning hours .

THE CRITICAL EXCEPTION

Emergency Danger Exception

The prohibitions on stationary or nighttime use do not apply if another road user poses an immediate danger to safety .
