TURNING LEFT SAFELY
WATCH THE JUNCTION
THE RIGHT - HAND TURN
SIGNAL AND OO POSITION
When approaching a junction on the left , stay alert for vehicles turning in front of you , either exiting or entering the side road .
PERFORM A O SHOULDER CHECK
Once you have checked that the traffic is safe , signal clearly and move yourself toward the center of the road .
THE FINAL LOOK
Before signaling your intent to turn , check behind you specifically for other cyclists or motorcyclists .
NEVER UNDERTAKE TURNING VEHICLES
Wait for a safe gap in oncoming traffic and perform one final look before committing to the turn .
SAFER ALTERNATIVES FOR BUSY ROADS
Do not ride on the inside of vehicles that are slowing down or signaling to tum left , as this is a high - risk blind spot .
PEDESTRIAN PRIORITY ( RULE H2 )
If the road is too busy , it may be safer to wait on the left for a gap or dismount and push your cycle across as a pedestrian .
Give Way to Pedestrians : When turning into or out of any side road , you are required to give way to pedestrians who are already crossing or waiting to cross .
