RECOMMENDED ENHANCEMENTS
White Front & Red Rear Lights
Your cycle MUST have a lit white light at the front and a lit red light at the rear when riding at night .
White Front Reflectors
While not mandatory like rear reflectors , fitting a white reflector to the front significantly helps you be seen by oncoming traffic .
Red Rear Reflector
A red reflector must be fitted to the rear of the bicycle to ensure visibility from behind even if lights fail .
Spoke Reflectors. Adding reflectors to your wheel spokes improves your side profile visibility to drivers at junctions .
Amber Pedal Reflectors: If your bicycle was manufactured after October 1 , 1885 , amber pedal reflectors are a legal requirement .
LIGHTING MODES & USAGE
Flashing Lights
Flashing lights are logally permitted for use on bicycles at night .
Steady Lights for Unlit Areas
It is recommended to use a steady front lamp instead of a flashing one when riding in areas without street lighting to better illuminate the path ahead .
