How to Cross Safely in Heavy Traffic
THE HIDDEN DANGER
Traffic on your side of the road may be forced to a complete stop due to congestion , even if the traffic light is green .
THE MOVING LANE
While your side is stopped , traffic on the far side of the road may still be moving at regular speeds .
DECEPTIVE CONGESTION
SAFE CROSSING PROCEDURE
LOCATE AND PRESS THE BUTTON
Do not attempt to weave through the stationary vehicles ; find the pedestrian crossing button first .
WAIT FOR THE SIGNAL
Wait for the official pedestrian signal to change before stepping into the roadway to ensure both sides of traffic are stopped .
