Preparation and Waiting
Give Traffic Time to See You Before stepping out , ensure drivers have plenty of time to see you and bring their vehicles to a controlled stop .
Wait for a Full Stop Do not assume traffic will stop ; wait until vehicles from both directions have come to a complete standstill or the road is entirely clear .
Account for Slippery Roads Recognize that vehicles require significantly more time and distance to stop when road surfaces are wet or loy .
The Rule of the Road ( Rule H2 )
While drivers should give way to pedestrians waiting . they MUET legally give way once a pedestrian has moved onto the zabra crossing .

Look and Listen Constantly Keep looking both ways and listening for engine sounds while crossing to stay aware of your surroundings .
Central Island Rule
If a zebra crossing has a central island , it is legally treated as two separate crossings ( Rule 50 ) , requiring you to repeat the safety process for the second half .
Beware of Overtakers Stay alert for drivers or riders who may not have seen you and might attempt to overtake a vehicle that has already stopped for you .
