Child Passenger Safety : Understanding Rule 100

UNDER 1.35 METRES

The 1.35 Metre Rule : Use an Approved Restraint

If below this height , a seat belt alone is insufficient ; an approved restraint MUST be used .

Equipment & Installation

Types of Approved Restraints :

Restraints include baby seats , child seats , booster seats , or booster cushions .

Weight & Fitting Requirements :

Restraints must be suitable for the child's weight and fitted strictly according to the manu- facturer's instructions .

Legal Compliance : Enforced under Laws RTA 1988 sections 14 & 15 and various MV ( WSB ) regulations from 2006 .

OVER 1.35 METRES

Children over 1.35 metres tall can use an adult seatbelt .
